Frequently Asked Questions

 Dog Hotel FAQs

I’ve read that dogs can be infected with COVID-19 What precautions do you take to make sure my dog will be protected from being infected with the virus, as well as me when I’m picking up or dropping off my best friend?

DIGS is designed to ensure that we are best in class when it comes to providing a clean and healthy environment for everyone.

1.) Our facility is fitted with Petairapy UV sterilizing equipment which disinfects air 24 hours 7 days a week. These systems are custom designed by engineers for each unique facility and ensure that 99.9% of viruses including Covid-19 are eliminated before they have the ability to infect.

2.) Our seamless epoxy floors are treated with Microblok. Microblok is a food grade antimicrobial topcoat floor sealant that prevents the growth of bacteria and viruses on the floor surface. Seamless and sealed floors ensure that accidents do not seep into seams or absorb into flooring and are easy to clean.

3.) Our entire staff is trained in sanitizing standards set by the US health department guidelines regarding surfaces and kennel maintenance. We use pet safe products that are included on the US Health department list of approved sanitizers that are effective against the Covid-19 virus .

4.) Our app allows you to pre-schedule curbside check-in / pick-up and pay for services from home so you do not have to enter the facility.

5.) Our staff follows all State guidelines regarding social distancing and mask requirements.

Do you separate large and small dogs?

DIGS has two separate areas in our indoor playground.

Dogs are separated into smaller playgroups. Generally we use temperament and size as a guideline. We determine playgroup placement during the initial enrollment / assessment meeting. We do occasionally let bigger dogs mingle with the small dogs if we determine we can safely do so.

How many times a day are the dogs walked/Do you have outdoor space?

DIGS is an all-indoor dog facility. The dogs treat the facility like it is an indoor play park. However if the dogs do have an accident we are urgent on making sure that the facility is very clean and sanitary using our “Gone in 60 Seconds” standard. DIGS caretakers spot clean and disinfect everything with veterinary grade disinfectant constantly. We do offer midday walks for those who want it as an upgraded daycare / boarding feature.

How do I know my dog will be safe?

All of DIGS employees are certified pet CPR and first aid specialists. Our attentive staff stays engaged and observant during group playtime and provides games and activities to keep the dogs active and play focused. If in the rare case an event does happen our caretakers are trained on de-escalation and intervention techniques.

All owners have access to our play park cameras at no extra charge.

Outside access to non guests is limited by key fob and security alarms.

What happens if my dog gets injured or falls ill?

This very rarely happens. In the event that it does you will be immediately notified and we will seek out appropriate veterinary care if necessary. We have partnerships with local veterinary facilities such as BondVet and Vinegar Hill. If there is a widespread virus outbreak concern or if we identify that a dog in the facility that has a contagious disease we alert all of our pet parents and take proper precautions. We also have an evacuation plan in case of the need to leave the facility.

What should I bring when I board my dog?

Please bring enough of your dog’s food – enough to last their stay plus one extra day. We will feed your dog in the amounts you ask in morning, afternoon, and evening feedings. We do not charge extra for this service. We provide a full selection of bedding, bowls, toys, etc. If you feel that there is something you’d like to bring from home during their dog boarding stay to make your pup more comfortable you are welcome to bring it. We suggest you don’t bring your dog’s very expensive bed or favorite, irreplaceable toy. We suggest a personal item like an old T shirt that has a familiar scent. This tends to be calming for dogs and eases separation anxiety.

Is the facility completely cage-free?

Yes. The Hotel is cage-free during the day and the dogs are assigned to their private suites for overnight boarding. With all the stimulation and play during the day we have found that the dogs really enjoy some “me time” at the end of the day. On rare occasion a dog may become overstimulated and need a short timeout to “re-boot” we may retire them to a suite for a short nap.

Is there someone there overnight?

Yes. We stay to make sure the dogs feel comfortable and are settled in. Our overnight caretaker tucks each dog in and will provide one on one pre bed time cuddles if requested. If a dog still has energy our hotel staff will take them to another room for extra exercise or use other calming techniques. Our guests usually are tired from all the exercise from playing all day and typically fall asleep very quickly in their private comfortable suites.
